SECOND DAY: SORAYPAMPA, CHAULLAY
After a delicious breakfast we prepare for our walk by doing different stretching exercises, this will be a very long and difficult day as we will reach the highest point of our route, we have 04 hours of ascent from Soraypampa to Salkantay (4,600 meters above sea level), During the ascent we will be able to appreciate different lagoons and we will appreciate the change of ecological floor from the Quechua zone to the Puna zone, if the weather is favorable we will be able to appreciate the majestic Apu Salkantay (6,500 meters above sea level) which is one of the most important mountains in the region. The geography of the department of Cusco is one of the most important mountains within the Inka culture. After an explanation of the area by our expert guide and giving the passenger time to enjoy their snacks, we will begin the descent towards the city. from Huayracmachay, where we will have lunch, and then, a well-deserved rest. We will continue with the descent towards the town of Chaullay where we will spend the second night. In this last part of the day we will appreciate the geographical change between the cold and dry area that we were in the previous days to the humid and tropical area, we will also appreciate the change in the flora. and local fauna, we will be able to appreciate different types of birds as well as different orchids, we will arrive at the camping point around 5:00 p.m. Just like the day before, we will have tea time and then dinner in the evening.
THIRD DAY. CHAULLAY – SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA
This day will be unparalleled and unforgettable, since during the walk we will be able to observe a great variety of flora and fauna, starting from CHAULLAY, passing through the community of COLLPAPAMPA and continuing our descent among the local vegetation, observing hot springs in a valley, close to the course of the Santa Teresa River, where there are also several varieties of orchids and large waterfalls, we will also feel the great climate change, because on this day we will enter the area called eyebrow of jungle or high jungle, then we will arrive at Sahuayaco where we will have the last lunch made by our chef on the way, after lunch we will take transportation to the city of Santa Teresa, where we will spend the third night in a hostel with double or triple rooms, all rooms have a private bathroom, hot water and TV. In the afternoon, passengers can visit the thermal pools of Cocalmayo before coordinating with the guide. Tonight’s dinner will be in a restaurant and will feature typical products from the region.
FOURTH DAY: SANTA TERESA – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES
Our walk begins at 8:00 am, on the route we will enjoy a variety of breakfasts: plantations of bananas, coca and other tropical fruits. We will arrive at the hydroelectric plant where we will have to register to enter the historic sanctuary of Machupicchu. From this point we will walk an hour and a half to Inka Rakay where we will have lunch, after a rest we will go to the city of Aguas Calientes or Machupicchu, here we will spend the fourth night in a hostel with private rooms, hot shower, cable television and wifi. Around 7:00 p.m., we will have dinner and have the final coordination of the most important day of the tour, visiting the sacred city of the Inkas.
FIFTH DAY: HOT WATERS – MACHUCPICCHU – CUSCO.
Very early (04:20 approx.) we will begin the ascent for an hour and a half walk or we can go by bus with an additional cost of US$ 12 to reach the citadel. Once inside the park, your guide will give you a 2-hour tour of the most important ruins and temples of the ancient city. Afterwards, you will be able to explore Machupicchu and maybe even hike Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountain (reservations required two months in advance, plus an additional $20 charge). We will then have free time and lunch in the town of Machupicchu, and then board the 18:00pm train to Ollantyatambo and bus to Cusco.
